To
propose that the National Assembly for Wales:
1.
Opposes Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s decision to introduce new
rotas that will extend shifts for nursing staff from January 2020.
2.
Believes this is a damaging and retrograde step - particularly at a time when
more than one in ten nursing posts in the health board is vacant.
3.
Notes that BCUHB has been in special measures for the past four years and is
therefore under the direct control of the Minister for Health and Social
Services.
4.
Calls on the Welsh Government to overturn the decision and protect nurses’
working conditions.

Values the NHS workforce and our social partnership working arrangements in
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB), and in all health boards
across Wales.
2.
Notes that BCUHB continues to engage with nursing staff and their trades unions
on changes to nursing rotas.
