Cardiff Airport

receiving evidence

The Fourth Assembly Public Accounts Committee undertook an inquiry into the Welsh Government’s acquisition and ownership of Cardiff Airport following publication of the Auditor General for Wales report (PDF 3MB) (27 January 2016). That Committee published its report into The Welsh Government’s acquisition and ownership of Cardiff Airport (PDF 458KB) in March 2016.

Due to time restraints, the Welsh Government had not responded to the recommendations contained in the Committee’s Report at the end of the Fourth Assembly. The previous Committee recommended in its Legacy Report, that its successor Committee considers the Welsh Government response when available early in the Fifth Assembly and seeks an update on the implementation of the recommendations in autumn 2016.

The Public Accounts Committee considered the Welsh Government response in November 2016. The Welsh Government provided an update in November 2016 and the Committee considered a further update from the Welsh Government in December 2018.

The Committee held an evidence session with Cardiff Airport in summer 2019 and scrutinised the Welsh Government in September 2019. Following that session, the Committee Chair wrote to the Welsh Government and the detailed response will be considered in November 2019.
