Yes - I believe that children should be given the same rights to protect as adults under the law. In 2019 it is a disgrace that children may be subjected to physical harm; children are amongst the most vulnerable members of our society and should be offered the protection required through law. Physical punishment is harmful for children and leads to poorer outcomes, it also invites the potential of an escalation of violence and abuse resulting in both serious physical and emotional consequences for children.

Yes - I believe that legislation will end the era of ambiguity around this issue; it will allow professionals to be very clear with parents that physical punishment is not acceptable.
