Whilst I support measures to protect children from harm the bill is in danger of being too prescriptive in its application. Causing people of faith who are moderate and show appropriate care to children in an impossible position whilst neglecting to protect children from the harm experienced by discipline not measured by the love and wisdom promoted within the moderate Christian church in Wales..

I believe that there needs to be discretion to allow each case to be dealt with according to the circumstances rather than a overly prescriptive response.

I am concerned that the bill will result in placing Christians in a position where they are forced to choose between the instructions of the faith or the rules of too stringent legislation creating a moral dilemma and putting people who would naturally uphold the law and support the protection of children from harm in an untenable position. The law in Wales should not legislate against the precepts if the Christian faith.
