I think the present law is adequate and already protects children from harm. A change in the law would result in criminalizing loving parents.

I do not think that there is evidence that this Bill is supported by the majority of people in wales. There is evidence that when smacking was banned in other countries violence among children towards other children actually rose.

Loving parents could be criminalized, smacking is sometimes the only discipline children will respond to such as in dangerous situations. The State should seek to support families and not break them up by criminalizing parents.

There could be an increase in the workload of police and social workers who are already over stretched.

I object to the Government regulating family life. Our parents and grandparents were smacked and smacked themselves. This Law effectively implies that they were all child abusers. This is clearly nonsense.
