In its consultation document last year, the government agreed that an infrequent light smack was not harmful to a child. The money which should be used to protect children who really are being abused will be wasted on what is an unjustified interference in family life..

Yes. Loving parents who discipline their children by light smacking will be criminalised. Family life will be disrupted as parents will be afraid to reasonably discipline their children. The confusion casued will further wrosen the plight of genuinely at risk children.
